Headquartered in Mechanicsburg, Solar Renewable Energy LLC has financed, developed and installed over 250 solar energy systems, generating over 50 megawatts total output annually in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast region of the United States.
According to the company, CEO Douglas Berry worked as a CPA for over 30 years before pivoting to Solar Renewable Energy LLC.
“During his career as a consultant, he reviewed solar project proposals for clients and recognized the commercial solar industry as a rapidly growing market,” the company stated. “His insights into the industry’s potential led him to found SRE in 2010, focusing on the emerging opportunities in solar energy.”
In addition to Berry’s involvement, four family members remain involved in the business including Linda Berry as CFO, Seth Berry as COO and Ashley Rhoads as Real Estate Manager.
“In its early years, SRE faced challenges securing financing, typical for most start-ups, and struggled to attract new business,” the company stated. “Despite these obstacles, SRE persevered, relying on its strong leadership and deep knowledge of the solar industry to differentiate itself and continue growing, gradually overcoming these hurdles.
According to the company, its long-term goals include “developing, constructing, and owning larger solar projects as we continue to build our commercial solar portfolio.”
“SRE has provided power purchase agreements to various nonprofits and government entities, including churches, healthcare organizations, hospitals, schools, and utilities,” the company stated. “These agreements have resulted in significant savings, allowing nonprofits to reinvest resources into their missions. For government entities, energy savings help reduce costs, enabling them to lower customer rates or avoid price increases, ultimately benefiting both the organization and its stakeholders.”
