“I’ve been honored to manage the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center – the region’s largest such facility, and a historically and economically vital state asset for showcasing agriculture to millions of visitors annually,” said Sharon Myers.
Myers said the position allows her to utilize her tourism background and agricultural heritage to continue to build upon the complex and center’s relationships with event promoters, agricultural partners and regional tourism stakeholders.
“Our greatest challenge, like so many area employers, is lack of staff,” she said of the past year. “We set a high bar for event standards, and we need staff to serve the public. We implemented several efficiencies to manage with existing staff and created a real team approach to all projects. Just one example: traffic flow and vehicle and pedestrian safety improvements, as well as switching to primarily credit cards for parking fees, have helped us manage traffic more efficiently using fewer staff.”
