Shaner Hotels expands regional presence with purchase of hotel in Hershey

The 86-room Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Hershey has been acquired by State College-based Shaner Hotels, an international hotel owner, operator and developer.

Shaner also will operate the property at 195 Hershey Road and plans to invest $1.2 million in renovations to completely remodel guest rooms, a release said. In addition, Shaner announced that it will break ground on a second hotel, a TownePlace Suites, in the coming months.

“Alongside our sister hotels, the Courtyard Hershey Chocolate Avenue and the Fairfield Inn Harrisburg International Airport, the Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Hershey further establishes our presence in the Hershey/Harrisburg marketplace,” said Plato Ghinos, president of Shaner Hotels.

“The Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton benefits from its prime location directly across the street from Hersheypark, making it the closest Hilton-branded product in the area to the family amusement park. Following the completion of the hotel’s full refresh, we fully expect it to become the market and segment leader for business and leisure travelers to the area.”

Amenities at the hotel, which has two-bedroom extended suites available that sleep six, include a complimentary hot breakfast, 24/7 Sweet Shop, free Wi-Fi, a fitness center and a heated indoor pool.

One of the major owner-operator companies in the hospitality industry, Shaner has invested more than $1 billion in 67 hotel properties owned and managed across the U.S., Italy, Greece and the Bahamas, with brand affiliations such as Marriott International, InterContinental Hotels, Choice Hotels and Hilton.
