Hughes has served as president for two years. In his role as president, he is responsible to set the overall strategy, manage day-to-day operations, build relationships with clients, ensure compliance with laws, develop and manage the budget, and hire and manage staff. He also represents the company in external meetings, makes key decisions on future growth, and ensures safety and quality standards are met.
He says the most challenging issue in the past year has been, hands down, managing materials. “Both shortages and long lead times have been a nightmare. We have a strong network of subcontractors and suppliers through which we identify and monitor these materials and their individual challenges. We strategize early, swift, and thorough purchasing with each specific vendor to avoid any disruptions in the construction process,” Hughes says.
