SEPTA strike ends

Gov. Ed Rendell helped broker a deal between SEPTA and the leaders of Transport Workers Union Local 234 and United Transportation Union Local 1594, ending a week-long transit strike in Philadelphia.

Gov. Ed Rendell helped broker a deal between SEPTA and the leaders of Transport Workers Union Local 234 and United Transportation Union Local 1594, ending a week-long transit strike in Philadelphia. The agreement gives transit workers pay raises in the coming years. Workers will start to contribute to their own health care costs. “The agreement has many good elements, but, most importantly, puts and end to the weeklong transit strike that crippled the transportation network in Philadelphia and impacted commuters across the region,” Rendell said in a written statement.
