Second Cumberland County Dickey’s location now open

The fourth midstate Dickey’s Barbecue Pit opened Thursday in Lower Allen Township with a midstate native and Messiah College graduate as the owner and operator.

Mechanicsburg native Brandon Philp will open the restaurant as the owner/operator at 3401 Hartzdale Drive in the Capital City Plaza across from the Capital City Mall and Walmart.

The restaurant chain has expanded quickly in the midstate and in Pennsylvania. It has three other locations in the midstate, including another in Cumberland County in Silver Spring Township off the Carlisle Pike. It also has a location in Lancaster County and York County in the Hanover area.

The Hanover location opened in February, the Lancaster County location opened in 2014 as the seventh location in Pennsylvania. The chain now has 16 locations in the state, according to Roland Dickey, CEO of Dallas-based Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants Inc.

The family-owned, fast-casual chain now has about 560 locations in 43 states. When it opened in Lancaster County two years ago, it had 400 locations.

The latest location will feature specials throughout the next four weekends to celebrate the opening, as well as a contest to win free barbecue food for a year.
