Scott E. Hartman
President and CEO
Rutter’s Holdings Inc.
Hartman has served in his current position for 23 years. He plans and directs strategies for growth of Rutter’s convenience, dairy and real estate companies. His son joined the business nearly four years ago, and he is the 11th generation in the business. “Helping him learn the many facets of our family business is part of the role of the senior members of our team….especially me,” Hartman says.
He says inflation and higher interest rates are something new to so many of the younger members of the company’s team. “The ability to draw on my 52 years of business experience and provide a path on how to manage a 3,000 person strong business during turbulent times was my biggest challenge in 2022. I provided guidance and, hopefully, the vision on how to continue to grow a 275 year-old business through uncertain times. As other companies are laying off employees, we are adding over 300 jobs per year,” Hartman says.
