Rutter’s plans to buy a product placement sponsorship for the “Against the Odds” movie project, Jameson Hesse, director and co-producer of the movie announced Monday. The film will tell the story of the baseball team’s 2015 World Series experience in Williamsport.
Rutter’s has 62 locations in Central Pennsylvania, including a store located across the street from the Red Land Little League fields.
“Our company is proud of our Central (Pennsylvania) roots and of the great legacy of Red Land Little League,” Chief Customer Officer Derek Gaskins stated in a news release. “Rutter’s is excited about the (‘Against the Odds’) movie project, as it will share that legacy with the rest of the world. We can’t wait to see the final product and are thrilled to be a part of making this project happen.”
Rutter’s is the third Central Pennsylvania-based corporation to pitch in for the project. Musselman’s Applesauce and the Harrisburg Senators are also sponsors.
Gaskins recently presented a $10,000 check to Hesse as part of Rutter’s sponsorship. Hesse, now based in Los Angeles, grew up in Lewisberry and played baseball for Red Land.
Producers plan to film and complete post-production of the movie entirely in Central Pennsylvania, according to the news release. The crew is in the midst of an Indiegogo.com crowdfunding campaign, which has already topped its initial goal of $50,000.
“In addition to filming here, we intend to donate a portion of the net profits of (‘Against the Odds’) to the Red Land Little League team so they can build a new youth baseball complex and inspire future little leaguers to pursue their dreams,” Hesse said in the news release.
