Manchester Township-based Rutter’s has opened its largest convenience store yet, in northern Dauphin County.
Located at 77 Benvenue Road on 10.5 acres of land along Route 322, the new Reed Township store is 10,500 square feet, which is up to 3,000 square feet larger than the last three stores that have been built, said Kirsten Stanley, marketing coordinator for Rutter’s.
“We felt like it was needed to add the extra space since this location is right on a main highway with lots of travelers every day,” she said.
The new store includes 14 auto-fueling stations, six dedicated high-speed truck diesel bays, 47 vehicle parking spots, and 42 truck parking spots.
The Reed Township Rutter’s also houses the company’s largest fast-casual restaurant with a menu featuring ribs, turkey burgers and chicken pot pie. Indoor and outdoor seating will accommodate 40 people and includes free WiFi. The store also has a beer cave.
In the future, Rutter’s hopes to have gaming available at this location, said Stanley.
This location will employ 50 people and operate 24 hours a day.
The store will host a grand opening ceremony on Wednesday, Aug. 15 from 2 to 4 p.m. and will offer food samples and giveaways.
The opening of the Reed Township location makes 71 stores for Rutter’s. The company opened its first store in West Virginia, one of several planned locations outside Pennsylvania, in May.
