Gapstur has served as president and CEO of WellSpan Health for four years. She says her goal is to ensure that WellSpan has the right systems in place to attract, engage, develop, reward, and retain the best people – and to create and sustain a diverse, inclusive, and safe workplace environment.
Gapstur is also deliberate about implementing practices that ensure system wide alignment, including clearly communicating expectations and providing tools that enable senior leaders to cascade key messages to their teams. “With my experience in nurse leadership roles, strategic planning, and business development, I am passionate about accelerating healthcare’s path to value and innovating to create new ways of solving problems in the industry. Our innovation journey started several years ago when we added innovation expertise to the WellSpan team. Having these resources in-house allows us to look through a new lens, disrupt ourselves, shift our culture, and pave the way for accelerated innovation,” she says.
Last year, Gapstur guided the team through strategic partnerships with Truveta, General Catalyst, Rite-Aid and Helix. She says these partnerships give WellSpan access to additional capabilities, advanced data and analytics, and new ways of bringing high-quality services to local communities.
