Rite Aid Corp. today reported that December same-store sales, or sales at stores that have been open for at least one year, decreased 0.5 percent when compared to the year-ago period.
Same-store sales for the four-week period that ended Dec. 29 did not include the Brooks and Eckerd drugstore chains that the Cumberland County company acquired in June.
Total sales in December increased 47.5 percent, to $2.2 billion. That number includes the Brooks and Eckerd drugstores and is up when compared to the $1.49 billion in sales that Rite Aid reported in the year-ago period.
East Pennsboro Township-based Rite Aid shares trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol RAD.
