After opening a restaurant last month in East Lampeter Township, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen is expanding its presence further in Lancaster County with plans for two more eateries.
The Miami-based chain confirmed by email that it expects to open a Popeyes in Lancaster Township in the second quarter of 2023 and one in Ephrata Township in the fourth quarter of next year.
Popeyes already had a restaurant on Manheim Pike in Manheim Township, at a former Wendy’s, so this will raise the total in Lancaster County to four.
The East Lampeter Township Popeyes, at 2246 Lincoln Highway East, near Tanger Outlets, is 3,000 square feet and boasts a drive-thru. It replaces a Pizza Hut that closed in early 2020 and was torn down.
Housed in a former PNC Bank branch, the Lancaster Township Popeyes will be in the Stone Mill Plaza shopping center, which is anchored by a Giant supermarket and includes such national chains as Subway and Taco Bell.
And the Ephrata Township restaurant will occupy a 2,400-square-foot space in Ephrata Crossing shopping center, on Route 322. Other tenants include Chipotle, Jersey Mike’s and Panera Bread.
Popeyes’ menu features mild and spicy fried chicken as well as seafood, sandwiches and sides such as biscuits, macaroni and cheese, and Cajun fries.
Owned by Restaurant Brands International, which also owns Tim Hortons, Burger King and Firehouse Subs, Popeyes operates some 2,800 restaurants in the U.S.
