PinnacleHealth offers telestroke program

PinnacleHealth System now has telestroke service, in which neurologists use on-demand patient data and live two-way audio and video to provide remote treatment for a stroke victim.

The Harrisburg-based nonprofit health care system said in a news release today that telestroke is to help other facilities respond more quickly. Its program incorporates eICU, which was developed by InTouch Health.

PinnacleHealth acute care hospitals were certified as primary stroke centers in 2009, and PinnacleHealth is one of two hospitals in the state certified by The Joint Commission as primary stroke and stroke rehab hospitals.
