PeoplesBank has appointed Craig L. Kauffman as its next president and CEO.
Kauffman will also serve as executive vice president and COO of the bank’s holding company, Codorus Valley Bancorp Inc.
In addition, Kauffman, who is moving over from BB&T Bank, was appointed as director of PeoplesBank.
“The board of directors looks forward to working closely with Craig as we pursue the company’s strategic initiatives over the next several years,” Larry J. Miller, executive chairman of PeoplesBank, said in a statement.
The Codorus Valley board has been on the hunt for a CEO since February after A. Dwight Utz was fired from the position.
Kauffman most recently served as a regional president of BB&T in Central Pennsylvania. Before that, he was Pennsylvania CEO of the former Susquehanna Bank, based in Lititz, from 2013 to 2015.
Before joining Susquehanna Bank, Kauffman held various executive management positions with PNC Bank in Lancaster and Bay First Bank in Maryland.
Kauffman is a board member of the Lancaster Economic Development Corp., Lancaster General Health Foundation and chairman-elect of the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
He was replaced at BB&T by Alex Brame, who has been with BB&T since 2006.
Based in York Township, PeoplesBank has $1.7 billion in assets and operates 37 branches, including 11 satellite offices in retirement communities.
The bank posted net income of $6.1 million in the second quarter of 2018, up from $3.7 million in the second quarter of 2017, according to its most recent earnings report.
