Pennsylvania College of Art & Design selects new president

Michael Molla, an executive from Maryland Institute College of Art, has been named president of Pennsylvania College of Art & Design.

Molla was appointed Thursday by the college’s board of trustees, who have been looking since September for someone to replace Mary Colleen Heil, who is retiring after 25 years.

Molla will start this summer as the third president of the Lancaster college

“I look forward to participating in the vibrant arts and creative economy happening within the City of Lancaster,” Molla said in a statement.

Molla worked for 26 years at Maryland Institute for College of Art in Baltimore where he was responsible for the design and construction of residential facilities, and a center for graduate education. Molla also oversaw the opening of an undergraduate design center.

Molla also has served as co-chair of the Baltimore Integrated Partnership and as board chair of the Station North Arts and Entertainment District.

Molla earned a bachelor’s degree in arts education from Anna Maria College in Paxton, Mass. and a master’s degree in creative arts education from Fitchburg State University in Fitchburg, Mass.
