To launch a new line of pizza ovens it recently started selling, Lancaster outdoor furniture store Penn Stone is hosting an evening of pizza and wine tastings Friday.
The outdoor pizza ovens are made by Alfa Ovens, an Italian company. Penn Stone starting selling them last week, a company spokesman said.
The event is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Alfa’s founder, Rocco Lauro, plans to join the Penn Stone team to demonstrate how to bake pizza in his company’s wood-fired ovens.
“We imagine a world where the wood-fired oven becomes an intuitive device for everybody. We’d like to bring people back to their roots and see one of our flame ovens in every home,” Lauro said in a statement.
Alfa Ovens was founded in 1977 by Lauro and his cousin Marcello Ortuso. Since then, Alfa has developed a collection of residential and commercial ovens for both outdoor and indoor use.
Also joining the event is Lancaster Italian grocery store Gesino’s Italian Specialty, which will provide pizza ingredients for oven demonstrations and offer complimentary tastings of Italian wine
In addition, Lancaster used-car dealer, Michael’s Motor Cars, will showcase vintage automobiles from Fiat and Alfa Romeo.
