Penn National Gaming Inc. today said it has agreed to buy
land in Ohio
that could be the future site of Hollywood Casino Columbus.

The 123-acre site is one of two the Berks
County firm is considering for its
proposed $250 million casino in Columbus.
The company will pursue the development of both sites as it awaits approval
from the Ohio
government and state voters to designate the 123-acre site as an authorized
casino location.

On Jan. 15 the company said it closed on the purchase of 24
acres in an area of Columbus
that already has been designated as an authorized casino location. But the firm
did say it was considering alternative sites in the area that might allow for
construction to begin earlier. Penn National is hoping to open the casino
during the second half of 2012.

Penn National Gaming owns and operates Penn National Race
Course
and the Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course, both in Dauphin County. The company’s shares trade on
the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol PENN.
