Toomey’s duty is representing the interests of Pennsylvania’s nearly 13 million residents in the United States Senate.
He’s served in the position for 10 years He previously served in the US House of Representatives for six years. Honoring his pledge to limit himself to three terms, he did not seek re-election to the House in 2004.
He is proud of playing a central role in crafting the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. He described the act as “the most sweeping reform to the U.S. tax code in a generation; leading to historic economic growth and prosperity.”
“I believe in the importance of integrity, persistence, and preparation. With those three traits, a person can accomplish almost anything,” Toomey said.
He is an amateur beekeeper. “I raise and maintain bee colonies in my backyard. In the Senate I’m often dealing with abstractions. With beekeeping, it’s fun to have tangible, and delicious, results,” Toomey said.
