Best mistake: Flunking shorthand. I met my husband at summer school. First paying job: I clerked public auctions for my father. at taught me the importance of accuracy.

More about the honoree: Now 86, Burnley has had strong female influences throughout her life. Her two grandmothers, mother, two sisters, daughter and two daughters-in-law have taught her the values of past culture, the discipline of excellence, concern for others, and the joy of living. Her father taught her about investments of time and money. All of these people, and many more, helped her found and have success at Kitchen Kettle Village, where she continues to instill the best in her employees and give thanks to the customers who drop by Intercourse every day.
