Paul Risk Associates, a 68-year old family-owned construction firm based in Quarryville, moved the Herr Barn, built in 1852 on what is now the current site of Willow Valley’s new Continuing Care Retirement Community in Willow Street. At its new site, the barn, approximately 30 feet by 53 feet, is being converted into a storage area for the Herr Farm development, a future phase of Willow Valley’s retirement community.
Wohlsen Construction Co. completed the David H. Mercer Field House at The Hill School, Pottstown. Wohlsen served as general contractor for the new facility, which was designed by Cannon Architects of Washington, D.C. Tim Elder served as Wohlsen’s project manager, and Ed Yelser served as project superintendent. The 34,000-square-foot multipurpose center contains three basketball courts that can accommodate volleyball and tennis; a 185-meter track that includes a 55-meter straightaway for sprinting; and areas for practice and competition for field events. The upper level of the Mercer Field House includes the Jerry Day Jr. Squash Center, which includes seven squash courts and a central spectator arena to fit 50 people. The central stadium court is a three-sided glass arena, and the remaining six
courts are glass-backed with paneled walls.
Universal Underwriters Insurance Co. has leased 2,100 square feet of office space at Pennsylvania Place, located at 301 S. Chestnut St., Harrisburg. Landmark Commercial Realty Inc., Lemoyne, handled the leasing transaction on behalf of the property owner, Susquehanna Chestnut Partners.
United Rentals Inc. will move its offices at 5060 Ritter Road, Lower Allen Township, to larger quarters at 4600 Westport Drive, also in Lower Allen. The expanded facility will comprise the ITS division of United Rentals Highway Technologies Inc. as well as a national traffic operations center. United employees will monitor highway work zones across the nation from the operations center in an effort to make highway zones safer and more efficient for travelers. The transaction was handled by NAI/Commercial-Industrial Realty Co., Wormleysburg.
Image Arts Etc., specializing in digital imaging, is opening a second store in the Colonial Commons Shopping Center in Lower Paxton Township. The digital imaging includes portraits, photo retouching, digital photo enhancements, fine arts and custom framing. Lease negotiations were handled by NAI/Commercial-Industrial Realty Co., Wormleysburg.
B&B CommNet Inc. has renewed its lease on a 10,100-square-foot building at 516 Industrial Drive in the Fairview Industrial Park in Lewisberry. The company specializes in data network cabling, design and construction management for local, national and international accounts. It has more than 50 employees and has been in business for eight years. Lease negotiations were handled by NAI/Commercial-Industrial Realty Co., Wormleysburg.
Gray Drive Associates will begin construction in the first three months of 2002 of what eventually will be a development of 164 luxury apartments on a three-acre property and an adjacent 13-acre tract at Hereford and English Drives in Upper Allen Township. Some of the apartments will be ready for occupancy next summer. NAI/Commercial-Industrial Realty Co., Wormleysburg, handled the negotiations in the transaction with the seller, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
