Lower Paxton Township-based Ollie’s Bargain Outlet Holdings Inc. will open its second Lancaster location next week on Lincoln Highway in East Lampeter Township.
The 36,000-square-foot space is in the East Towne Centre next to the Dollar Tree and was once occupied by Staples. Ollie’s will bring brand closeouts in departments such as books, food, housewares, toys, clothing and more.
East Towne Centre is managed by Montgomery County-based Pennmark Management Co. Inc. and recently gained a discount fashion retailer, Gabriel Brothers Inc., to replace what was once a Kmart.
According to Jerry Altland, vice president of real estate for Ollie’s, the company selected this location because it is on the other side of Lancaster from its first location, which is near Park City Mall in Manheim Township on Plaza Boulevard.
Also, the shopping center holds tenants that are a good fit for Ollie’s, Altland said.
Ollie’s began selling public shares in July of this year and announced in its first public earnings report plans to open 10 to 15 stores by the end of its fiscal year.
With each new store, Ollie’s adds about 50 to 60 jobs to the local community, ranging from cashiers to assistant managers, according to a news release.
“We are excited to open our second store in Lancaster County and our 36th store in Pennsylvania where folks have been so good to us,” said Mark Butler, president and CEO of Ollie’s.
Ollie’s has 198 stores across 16 states and employs more than 5,000 people.
A grand opening is scheduled for 9 a.m. Oct. 28. Ollie’s trades on the NASDAQ exchange under the ticker symbol OLLI.
