Nora Habig
Regional President, Central and Western Pennsylvania
M&T Bank
Habig has served two years in her current position.
She combines a few different leadership styles—democratic, transformational and coaching. She said her dominant leadership style is coaching. “I love helping team members build on their strengths to create the most effective team. This goes hand-in-hand with transformational leadership, allowing employees to think creatively and try new things. Of course, sometimes you just need to make the decision, as the leader. I try to do this based on input from the team, so that everyone is committed to the goal,” Habig said.
She began her career in banking with Bank of America in New York, back when Bank of America was a California bank. Habig worked in the treasury management (TM) department as a service liaison. She moved into TM sales and eventually relocated to Pennsylvania where she managed the TM department for Dauphin Deposit. Over time, she transitioned to a commercial lending role, then group manager, and now to her current position at M&T.
This year, she celebrated her 35th wedding anniversary with her husband, Michael. They have two grown children, Erin and William. “We are very lucky that both of our children live in Carlisle. We also have two beautiful labs, Casey and Lucy,” Habig said, “When I am not working, I love to go to the beach, and specifically, Bethany Beach.” She also enjoys many hobbies, most notably quilting. In May, she started playing pickleball.
