Lancaster General Health/Penn Medicine and Universal Health Services are bringing on a former vice president of a Coatesville-area hospital to lead their new inpatient mental health center in Lancaster.

Jayne Van Bramer was named CEO of the the Lancaster Behavioral Health Hospital effective Nov. 27. She will lead the currently under-construction facility going into and after its planned opening in the summer of 2018.

Van Bramer last served as vice president of behavioral health at Brandywine Hospital near Coatesville, where she oversaw initiatives like enhancing recovery-oriented programming and practices, improving patient and family satisfaction scores and building up community suicide prevention efforts and police crisis intervention training, according to a news release.

Before Brandywine, Van Bramer worked for the New York State Office of Mental Health. She has a Master’s of Arts in psychology from the State University of New York College at Oswego, a Master’s of Arts with distinction in applied research and evaluation from Hofstra University in New York and a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from the State University of New York at Binghamton.

Crews broke ground on the 126-bed, $30 million Lancaster Behavioral Health Hospital in May. The facility will sit near Franklin and Marshall College and fulfill specialized mental health needs not currently met locally, including treatment for adolescents and for women who have suffered abuse.

The project is a 50/50 partnership between Lancaster General Health/Penn Medicine and Montgomery County-based Universal Health Services, one of the country’s largest psychiatric hospital chains. Lancaster County-based Warfel Construction is managing construction.
