A new co-working space is expected to open next year in suburban Dauphin County.
Jaime Novinger-Toigo, president of Service1st Restoration & Remodeling, said the 3,500-square-foot space, called Coworking at The Park, will be part of the company’s new office at 330 E. Park Drive in Swatara Township.
“When I was searching for a building and saw this building, I thought (co-working) could be the perfect fit,” she said. “I saw a viable opportunity here to have a space that can utilize the amenities we built.”
Those amenities include a large training or conference room with capacity for 55 people.
Service1st, which was founded in 2005 and specializes in disaster recovery, had been based in Lower Swatara Township. But the company has been growing and needed more space.
The new building is about 30,000 square feet. The company has been operating there for about the last month.
Novinger-Toigo said the goal is to open the co-working space by the beginning of 2017. The company is currently fitting out the facility, which will include a shared common area with some private desks and seven private offices.
Coworking at The Park will offer day passes and monthly rates. The monthly rates range from $300 to about $600 for the private offices.
Because it’s a suburban location, the new co-working space isn’t likely to attract many day-pass members compared with shared work spaces in downtown areas. But Novinger-Toigo does expect that entrepreneurs and people in sales will see value in having the training space with a connected kitchen for events.
“It’s definitely not going to attract the person that wants an urban environment and to be able to walk to a coffee shop,” she said.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the facility is slated for 1 p.m. on Dec. 13.
