North American Partners in Anesthesia announced Tuesday that it will provide anesthesia services at the new $375 million Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center, which opens Oct. 3.

In a release, Melville, New York-based NAPA is described as “the largest single-specialty anesthesia and pain management company in the U.S.,” with 6,000-plus clinicians providing anesthesia at hundreds of hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers and office-based locations in 21 states.

Penn State Lancaster Medical Center is a six-story, 341,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility at 2160 State Road, East Hempfield Township, that will include 132 inpatient beds; an emergency department; and specialty inpatient services, such as a cardiac catheterization lab, labor and delivery and complete medical and surgical capabilities.

In addition, there’s an attached medical office building for physician practices and outpatient services.

Joseph J. Frank, regional hospital president, East Region, Penn State Health, said in the release, “This facility will strengthen Penn State Health, providing world-class primary, specialty and acute care to residents. NAPA will help us deliver the highest level of care and reinforce our reputation in the Lancaster area.”

Added Dr. Joshua Constable, NAPA’s vice president of clinical services for the mid-Atlantic region: “With years of experience in delivering consistent and safe anesthesia services, we at NAPA look forward to a long relationship with Penn State Health in Lancaster, where we will work collaboratively to expand health care services, achieve facility excellence, and make reliable surgical services available for all.”
