Moove In Self Storage expands more into York

York-based Moove In Self Storage announced the opening of a new storage facility and the acquisition of an existing one.

The new building is on South Richland Avenue in downtown York. It’s a two-story, 100% interior, temperature-controlled storage facility on the corner of a highly trafficked road, minutes from York College, a number of student housing facilities and a variety of businesses and restaurants.

Phase I of the project, called Moove In Richland Avenue, produced a 66,000-net-rentable-square-foot facility with 579 interior temperature-controlled units.

Phase II, set to begin next spring, will include construction of an additional one-story building with 38 interior non-temperature-controlled units and 52 drive-up units, alongside 115,000 square feet of parking for RV and vehicle storage.

Vice President of Operations Brian Foran said in a release, “This flagship property will allow Moove In to serve unfilled demand in the downtown York market while continuing to increase our brand exposure throughout southcentral Pennsylvania.”

Moove In has also acquired JLM Storage on Chambers Road in York. This 21,050-net-rentable-square-foot property consists of three traditional drive-up storage buildings, totaling 183 units on 2.3 acres. This location will be called Moove In Chambers Road.

An eight-bay car wash is included in the deal. Once governmental approvals are obtained, Moove In will demolish the car wash in order to construct a three-story building that will add 48,600 gross square feet of temperature-controlled storage as well as an on-site office.

Construction is expected to begin in 2023, with lease-up in 2024.

Since opening its first facility in 1998, Moove In has expanded to nearly 60 self-storage facilities throughout Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Iowa. It also recently acquired iStore Self Storage, now Moove In Self Storage, in the Mechanicsburg market and Midway Self Storage, now Moove In Holly Pike, in the Carlisle market.
