Metro Bancorp Inc.’s chairman, president and CEO is returning to work much sooner than expected.
Gary Nalbandian, who announced in February he was taking a leave of absence from the company he started to have heart surgery, sent a letter to employees Friday to say he was returning to work.
Nalbandian originally told employees that his coronary bypass surgery would require “several months” of recovery time and that he would return to work in the third quarter of 2015 after the March 5 surgery.
“I have recently been cleared by my physician to resume my normal duties on a graduated basis over the next few weeks,” he wrote in the letter, without going into any detail about the quicker-than-expected recovery.
Nalbandian informed the company’s board of directors April 13 that he was ready to return to work.
