For some, taking over the family business is the last thing on their minds. Not so with Meredith Mills, president and chief operating officer for Country Meadows Retirement Communities in Hershey.
Her grandparents, former Gov. George M. Leader and his wife, Mary Jane, founded Country Meadows Retirement Communities in 1962.
Mills’ first job was on the Country Meadows campus in high school, and it left an impression.
“I couldn’t believe how the mission that I had been told about my entire life was actually alive and well in my fellow co-workers and how they delivered that mission to residents every single day,” she recalls.
While her career eventually took her to Philadelphia, she returned to Country Meadows in 2011, assuming the role of chief operating officer in 2018 and adding president to her title last year.
“I cannot express what an incredible honor it is to follow not only in the footsteps of my grandparents, parents and uncles, but also in the footsteps of so many of the Country Meadows and Ecumenical family members,” adds Mills.
