Mechanicsburg-based Members 1st Federal Credit Union has made its Berks County debut.
The credit union, which has 57 branches, opened its newest in the Reading suburb of Shillington at 516 Lancaster Ave.
Members 1st is focused on expanding its current footprint, which is primarily in Central Pennsylvania, company officials said in a press release.
It plans to open two more branches in Berks County and eventually expand into Lehigh County.
Many banks and credit unions have been reducing the number of bricks-and-mortar branches because more customers using online and mobile banking options, but Member 1st spokesperson, Mike Wilson, said the credit union is excited about creating future locations.
“We understand that many of our members enjoy doing their banking face-to-face, so we want to continue to provide convenient locations,” said Wilson. “Whether you are in one of our branches, on our app or website, or talking to one of our customer service representatives on the phone, we want to continue to provide the same, great, personalized member service you have enjoyed with us for as long as you have been a member.”
