Mechanicsburg Quaker Steak & Lube to open Nov. 13

Quaker Steak & Lube, the auto-themed restaurant, said Wednesday on its Facebook page that the planned opening is Nov. 13 for the new Cumberland County location.

The Mechanicsburg Quaker Steak is at 165 Gateway Drive in the Gateway Square shopping center that’s also home to Carrabba’s Italian Grill and Outback Steakhouse in Hampden Township.
The shopping center is just off the Carlisle Pike near its intersection with Route 581. Quaker Steak announced the midstate location in July. Representatives from the local restaurant and its headquarters in Sharon, Pa., did not immediately return calls for comment.
The Carlisle Pike continues to attract restaurant, retail and other investment this year. Harrisburg-based Appalachian Brewing Co. is opening its second Cumberland County brewpub and grill near Target on the pike.
In July, Moe’s Southwest Grill chain opened its first West Shore location at the Silver Spring Square.
GVS Partners acquired the Shoppes at Silver Spring in late August and is planning new retail construction at an adjacent vacant lot.
