A Mechanicsburg charitable organization has been told by state officials to stop soliciting donations until it complies with state regulations governing such fundraising activities.
Klymaxxx Angel Fund, 52 Pleasant View Drive, was issued a cease-and-desist order from the Department of State’s bureau of corporations and charitable organizations on Feb. 16, the Pennsylvania State Department said in a news release.
According to the cease-and-desist order, Klymaxxx Angel Fund is not registered with the bureau, and has failed to submit requested documentation to the bureau.
It also solicited contributions while not registered, failed to maintain records as required and did not deposit funds as required, according to the order.
It was ordered to “cease and desist from soliciting contributions in Pennsylvania until such time as it provides the bureau with all previously requested information and duly registers or provides information that is excluded or exempt from registration,” the State Department said.
The charity also could face fines of up to $1,000 per violation and, in addition, pay $100 a day for each day the violation continues, according to the order.
A representative from the charity could not immediately be reached for comment.
It was one of five charitable organizations to receive cease-and-desist orders in February, according to the State Department news release.
The corporations/charitable organizations bureau oversees the registration of more than 12,000 charities, solicitors and related officials in Pennsylvania, the release added.
