Bonsall has served as president for 11 years.

He describes his leadership style as servant leadership with a heavy emphasis on reinforcing Conrad Siegel’s identity and values. “This has provided our leaders and team members the support and freedom to drive the organization forward while still ensuring we maintain the culture that has made us successful for the last 60 years,” he said.

Bonsall said he was fortunate to have had many inroads to becoming an actuary. His father was a math teacher, and he can still visualize the two of them discussing a booklet which introduced the profession. His mother’s cousin introduced him to a chief actuary at an insurance company, which resulted in an internship that spanned three summers. “Finally, my best friend’s father, who was head of an actuarial department, introduced me to Conrad Siegel. I feel very fortunate to have been helped by these people and others,” he said.

“The things that drive me in my profession aren’t so different from those that drive me outside of work,” Bonsall said. In recent years, he has enjoyed helping his daughters pursue their passions. He enjoys the creativity of cooking for those he loves. “When it comes time to more introspective recharging, I like landscaping our property, hiking, biking, and playing a few holes of golf,” Bonsall said.
