Construction projects were down about 3 percent through the first six months of the year compared with numbers through June 2011, but estimated values were up 8 percent, according to Mid Atlantic BX.
The Harrisburg-based trade association, also known as MABX, tracks public and private construction project information from sources in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and northern Maryland.
MABX reported 7,446 construction projects through June. The total value of projects that included estimates was $6.2 billion, the association said.
“Our first-half plan room numbers are reflective of what we anticipated in the beginning of the year. We are seeing a nearly identical number of projects to 2011, with a slight increase in overall value,” said Trisha Mays, director of project information.
The first half of the year included 2,672 civic projects, 1,702 educational projects, 830 roadwork projects and 582 Department of Transportation projects, the association said.
In May, MABX reported 1,603 projects, the second-highest one-month total in the association’s 74-year history.
