Jewel Cooper, a finance professional with deep roots in the capital region, is trading banking for a new role with two Cumberland County companies.
Boyer & Ritter CPAs and Consultants and LeTort Trust are sharing Cooper as business development director. In her new position, which Cooper started this week, she will help the firms expand their overlapping client bases.
“It’s such a creative opportunity to help two companies who have worked together for so many years,” said Cooper, who has long known both firms’ leaders through her 30 years of experience in the local financial services industry.
Cooper previously served as business development officer at BB&T Bank. Leaving banking, she said, was bittersweet. She said she will miss her clients and co-workers, but that she looks forward to furthering her career in a new endeavor.
“Jewel has built an impressive resume of accomplishments in banking and finance that began with relationship building and networking,” Boyer & Ritter CEO Robert Murphy said in a news release announcing her hiring.
Those networks include groups like the Capital Region Economic Development Corp., which she chairs, and the boards of the United Way of the Capital Region, Dixon University Center and the YWCA. She is also a past president of the Rotary Club of Harrisburg.
LeTort and Boyer & Ritter share an appreciation for community service, Cooper said. Their history of giving back was an important factor in her decision to take the position.
Her new employers also value her community roots.
“Jewel is a talented and experienced financial professional who will be a tremendous addition to both firms,” LeTort President Katie Clarke said in the release. “Jewel’s wealth of industry knowledge and community connections will help us better serve the need of our clients.”
