Planning to focus on its commercial and industrial business, an HVAC mechanical contractor in Lancaster County has sold its residential division to a company that wants to expand service to homes.
Robert H. Ranck Inc., which does business as Ranck Plumbing Heating and Air Conditioning, said today it has purchased Triangle Home HVAC, the residential division of Triangle Refrigeration Co.
Terms of the deal, which closed Monday, were not disclosed.
Based in East Hempfield Township, Ranck serves customers in Lancaster, York and Berks counties. The company will pick up eight service technicians from Triangle, officials said. The deal brings Ranck’s total employee count to about 70.
“Triangle customers are in the same geography that we serve,” said John Michel, Ranck’s president and CEO. “This will make us more efficient and allow us to provide Triangle customers with our first-class service.”
Triangle, based in Manheim Township, will continue providing HVAC, plumbing and refrigeration services to commercial and industrial customers. The company’s customers include factories, restaurants and other food-service providers. Triangle’s service business is mostly in Central Pennsylvania, while the company’s installation work extends into several surrounding Mid-Atlantic states.
“Ranck excels in residential heating, cooling and plumbing, so it makes sense for Ranck to serve our residential customers while allowing us to focus on our commercial business,” Triangle President Dave Neslund said.
Neslund said the residential division accounted for less than 10 percent of Triangle’s total business.
Triangle, which was founded in 1969, has about 120 employees. The company finished 2017 with $20.5 million in revenue, according to Business Journal records. Ranck, founded in 1953, does not disclose revenue figures.
