Lancaster
city, the Lancaster County Convention Center Authority and Interstate Hotels &
Resorts Inc.
are working with the Pennsylvania CareerLink of Lancaster County to pull in qualified city residents to staff the center, which is slated to
open April 21. The $170 million facility initially will employ roughly 125-150
individuals, said Mark Moosic, general manager of the center. Major hiring for
the facility will take place in late February and early March, he said.

Graduates of the CareerLink’s Ready2Work program automatically
will be qualified for an interview with a department head at the facility. The
program helps individuals with the job-search process. Briefings on the hiring
process and how to get started with the Ready2Work program are scheduled to
take place throughout January. For more information on the briefings, click
here. To sign up for the Ready2Work program, call 509-5613.

The center will contain about 220,000 square feet of meeting
and event space. It will be adjoined to the 300-room Marriott Lancaster at Penn Square, which
is being developed by Lancaster-based Penn Square Partners. The entire facility
is managed by Virginia-based Interstate Hotels & Resorts.
