A Perry
County health care
facility is wrapping up a $5.2 million expansion project.
Kinkora Pythian Home is adding 35 personal-care beds and 10
independent-living units. The organization, near Duncannon, already has 60-bed
nursing home and 30-bed personal-care units. Construction is nearing
completion, and the home plans to hold an open house Saturday to show off its
new areas.
Kinkora decided to expand because of the increasing demand
for its services among people in Cumberland,
Dauphin and Perry counties, said Mitch Himmelberger, the home’s administrator.
It also needed to update some of its antiquated facilities, he said.
“In order to serve a broader community, we had to do some
sort of the expansion,” Himmelberger said.
