Opening a doggie daycare in downtown Harrisburg has been Josh Feldman’s dream for much of the last decade.
On Monday, the former Kaplan law instructor will fulfill that dream when he opens Keystone K9 at 931 N. Seventh St.
“I want to be a one-stop shop for someone who lives in Midtown or downtown,” he said, noting the facility also could be a good option for pet owners who commute into the city for work.
Keystone K9, located in the front of the building owned by Chemical Solutions Ltd., an independent testing laboratory, will offer full- and half-day care services for dogs and cats, plus boarding, grooming and training.
Daily daycare fees will start at $22; overnight boarding starts at $28. There also are suite areas with orthopedic bedding and televisions that will cost $35. Owners receive a 50 percent discount for a second dog in the suite.
There will be curbside check-in for pets.
A full-service groomer will be available at the property, as well as a self-serve bathing station for customers looking to get in and out.
Multiple play areas with movable walls are located in the front of the building, plus there is space for one-on-one exercise and a separate area for geriatric dogs.
An office area will provide space for local veterinarians and physical therapists to work with animals. Feldman said he expects to do monthly safety and informational workshops.
“I’m taking all the things I would want for my dog and putting everything in here,” he said. “It’s all about convenience for business people and residents.”
Keystone K9 also will offer a pick-up and drop-off service.
And to give back to the community, free overnight boarding will be available to the handlers of Harrisburg and Capitol police dogs, Feldman said.
