Kate Deringer Sallie
Co-founder and Principal
Pillar+Aught
Sallie co-founded Harrisburg-based law firm Pillar+Aught in 2017 with a team of eight other attorneys.
Prior to starting the firm, Sallie was a partner at Harrisburg-based Rhoads & Sinon for over eight years. She has an extensive background in bankruptcy and corporate finance law and has represented debtors, creditors, lenders and trustees in numerous mega-bankruptcy reorganizations and liquidations.
She has also represented debtors and secured creditors, including banks and other lending institutions, in Chapter 7, 11 and 13 bankruptcy cases, sales, structured liquidations, restructurings and other alternatives to bankruptcy.
Sallie initially went to college for a career in broadcast journalism, but realized she wasn’t yet done with school and immediately enrolled into Penn State Dickinson Law.
“I don’t know if it was my mom’s voice in my ear telling me I would be a good lawyer from when I was young or knowing that I didn’t want to go to Kansas to do the weather,” she said. “Few decisions in my life have been as good for me. I’m not one of those jaded lawyers that will tell you not to go to law school. Don’t come to me if you want to be turned away.”
