Jonathan Weis is the grandson of co-founder Harry Weiss. He was elected as company chair in April 2015. Weis has extensive experience in the supermarket business. During his career he has worked in store operations, produce merchandising, and grocery procurement.
Founded in 1912, Weis Markets, Inc. is a Mid-Atlantic food retailer operating 197 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York West Virginia and Virginia. Overall, Weis employs more than 23,000 associates in its stores, distribution center, corporate office, and manufacturing facilities. Built on self-reliance, the company processes its own milk and uses the excess butterfat to make Weis Quality Ice Cream.
