An Italian maker of industrial hydraulic valves has taken up permanent residence in the U.S. with the recent purchase of a factory property in Manchester Township.
Atos North America Inc., which has been leasing property at 50 Aberdeen Road in Manchester Township, paid $2.2 million for an almost 35,000 square-foot facility. It sits on a 10.218-acre site at 1670 Toronia St.
The building’s current tenant is SPX Cooling Technologies Inc., which makes cool packs for large industrial chillers and is headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina. The company is looking to relocate in the area and will remain in the building until May, said Bill Rothman, founder of Lemoyne-based RSR Realtors. He represented the property’s owner, Brandy Investors, in the sale.
SPX could not be reached for comment as of Monday afternoon.
Atos will begin using the building in June for distribution and minor repairs as it prepares for a 30,000 square-foot expansion on the site for manufacturing, said Gary Rosenberger, director of Atos North America. The company is slated to begin manufacturing at the new site by 2020.
“We are at the intersection of Route 30 and Interstate 83, which is important for a distribution and future manufacturing center,” Rosenberger said in a statement.
Keith Kahlbaugh of commercial real estate firm Bennett Williams Realty represented Atos in the transaction.
Atos has been an active presence in York County since 2015 when it bought a distributor called Fluid Power Associates Inc. Atos had previously held a small stake in the company.
