Tyco Electronics Corp. is ahead of schedule and could complete a factory move to York County in the next couple of months.

Tyco Electronics is closing its facility in East Berlin, Adams County, and moving the jobs to three locations, including a leased facility in Emigsville, York County, spokesman Michael Ratcliff said.

Most of the 600 employees who made electronic connections in East Berlin will remain in Central Pennsylvania, he said. Some jobs will go to a factory in China while others will be transferred to a South Carolina plant, he said.

The company is expecting some attrition, Ratcliff said, but most employees will be offered other positions in the company.

Tyco Electronics, based in Berwyn, Delaware County, makes electronics for industrial applications. Its stock is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol TEL.
