In brief: Tourism groups awarded

The Pennsylvania Dutch Convention & Visitors Bureau in Lancaster County received a guest-relations award
April 28 from the Pennsylvania Tourism & Lodging Association.

The Pennsylvania Dutch Convention & Visitors Bureau in Lancaster County received a guest-relations award
April 28 from the Pennsylvania Tourism & Lodging Association.

The award is part of the association’s statewide Spirit of
Hospitality awards program, which took place this year at the Holiday
Inn-Harrisburg East in Dauphin
County.

Charlie Gipe of the Hersheypark Entertainment Complex and
Edward T. Shimanski of the Hershey Lodge were finalists for the department
manager of the year award, which was given to an employee of the Great Wolf
Lodge in Monroe County.

Michael Ritter of the Historic Strasburg Inn was a finalist
for the general manager of the year award, but the award was given to an
employee at the Omni William Penn Hotel in Allegheny County.
