The Pennsylvania Dutch Convention & Visitors Bureau
recently received accreditation from Washington, D.C.-based Destination
Marketing Association International.

The Lancaster County-based group is one of a handful of
tourism organizations in the state to complete the Destination Marketing
Accreditation Program. Destination-marketing groups promote the long-term
development and marketing of a destination.

The program was launched in 2007 to establish a standard for
destination-marketing operations. Fewer than 50 tourism groups have completed
the program, which requires compliance with 54 mandatory and 33 voluntary
standards.

The destination-marketing association represents more than
600 organizations in more than 25 countries.

The Pennsylvania Dutch Convention & Visitors Bureau is
celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Its accreditation runs through Oct.
31, 2011, and can be renewed every four years depending on the approval of its
updated application.
