In brief: Scanlan getting award from American Hospital Association

The American Hospital Association this month will give Carolyn Scanlan its 2011 Board of Trustees Award, which recognizes an individual who has contributed significantly to the group’s work.

Scanlan is president and chief executive officer of the Harrisburg-based Hospital & Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania.

“Carolyn’s service and wise counsel to the (American Hospital Association) during a time of rapid change has strengthened the organization immensely and helped to solidify our strategic partnership with our state, regional and metropolitan allied hospital associations,” said Rich Umbdenstock, president and CEO of the American Hospital Association, in a statement.

Scanlan is slated to receive the award April 11 at the American Hospital Association’s annual meeting in Washington, D.C.
