In brief: Museum solicits experts

Officials at the National Civil War Museum have selected a
panel of historians, scholars, museum directors and park superintendents from
across the country to be part of the National Civil War Museum Advisory
Council.

panel of historians, scholars, museum directors and park superintendents from
across the country to be part of the National Civil War Museum Advisory
Council.

The advisers will help coordinate the Harrisburg-based
museum’s activities with similar museums and educational institutions in the U.S.

Council members hail from organizations including the
Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of American History in Washington,
D.C.; Princeton University in New Jersey; the Imperial War Museum in England;
Army Heritage Center Foundation in Carlisle; the Abraham Lincoln Presidential
Library & Museum in Illinois; and the Vicksburg National Military Park in
Mississippi.

The council also will include board members and staff from
the National Civil War Museum. Additional advisers will be named within a year.

J. Robert Hanlon Jr., a member of the museum’s board, will
serve as the council’s chairperson.
