The owner of a handful of bars in downtown Harrisburg said he plans to open another restaurant, bar or combination of both in what was the iconic Spot restaurant at the corner of North Second and Walnut streets.

Ron Kamionka said he is juggling three concepts for the space he is leasing. He would not disclose details. Kamionka will fit out the former restaurant after he chooses a concept and hopes to open it by the end of the year, he said.

Kamionka’s other downtown bars include Sawyer’s Cantina, The Harrisburg Hardware Bar, Eclipse Night Club, Sam Bucca’s Pizza Pub, Bourbon Street and Egypt. He owns other night spots throughout the region and is expanding in other parts of the state.

The Spot closed in 2007 after serving chili dogs and other comfort food to downtown customers for more than 70 years. The building’s owner and the owner of the Spot could not come to terms over a lease.
