Harrisburg recently was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 18th consecutive year.
The Chicago and Washington, D.C.-based Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada annually doles out the award to government bodies throughout the U.S. The award is considered the highest honor for governmental financial reporting and accounting, according to Harrisburg Mayor Stephen R. Reed's office.
Harrisburg was one of only 26 municipalities across the state to receive the award, Reed said in a written statement.
