House committee passes bill that would let Harrisburg exit Act 47, retain current tax levels for 5 years

Harrisburg is one step to exiting Act 47 for financially distressed cities but retaining its current special taxing authorities, TheBurg reported on Tuesday.

A state House committee passed an amended version of a bill introduced by Rep. Greg Rothman (R-Cumberland County). Read TheBurg’s full report here.

The city has been working with a state-appointed Act 47 coordinator since early in the summer to negotiate an earlier-than-planned exit from the program.
