Last week, Lancaster-based Wohlsen Construction broke ground on a 100-room Hampton Inn & Suites near Kutztown University in Berks County.
This week, East Lampeter Township-based High Construction announced the start of a 109-room Home2 Suites by Hilton in Delaware County.
Both projects broke ground this month and are scheduled for completion next summer.
Wohlsen is building a Hampton Inn & Suites for two investment subsidiaries of the Kutztown University Foundation.
The hotel will cost $14 million to build, according to a report from WFMZ-TV 69 News.
The 64,000-square-foot hotel will be four stories high and feature an indoor pool, fitness room and two conference rooms. It was designed by KCBA Architects.
The Hampton Inn & Suites will be the first nationally branded hotel in the Kutztown area. It is being built on the former site of the Campus Inn.
High is building the Home2 Suites for an affiliate of Roch Capital Inc., based in Glen Mills.
Construction will cost $12 million, according to High.
The 69,900-square-foot hotel will be four stories high with a fitness center, business center, indoor pool and outdoor living area. It was designed by Newcomer Associates of Chambersburg. The civil engineer is Bohler Engineering of Chalfont.
Hotel construction is a specialty for High Construction. The company has been involved in nearly 50 hotel projects.
